Putting On The Ritz With PCI Nanolight

Tile adhesive and grout manufacturer PCI, part of the Construction Chemicals division of the BASF Group, has supplied its PCI Nanolight tile adhesive to The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt hotel, a prestigious new hotel just outside Dublin city in County Wicklow on Ireland’s East coast.

Featuring Palladian-style architecture, the luxurious hotel opened in October 2007 and includes 200 guest rooms and suites, a spa with 22 treatment rooms and 36 holes of championship golf, as well as the Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt restaurant, Ramsay’s first establishment in Ireland. Irish architectural flooring contractor Tudor Tiles chose PCI Nanolight for tiling in the back-of-house areas and the main kitchen areas, where it was used to fix porcelain floor tiles.

Said Ashley Deegan, Project Consultant, Tudor Tiles: “We have installed 1,000m2 of floor tiling at The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt and the reason for using PCI Nanolight is that it is a more cost-effective option than an epoxy adhesive but still provides the technical aspects required. It was also beneficial as we could use it to level out slight discrepancies in the floors. The installers enjoy working with this product as it is supplied in a lighter than normal 15 kg bag with a reinforced handle while still providing the required coverage, and its composition makes it easy to spread on floors.”

The PCI Nanolight concept is based on technology that uses micro “Nano” science to give the adhesive a light, workable consistency and extraordinary non-slip characteristics, allowing it to bond to any surface, no matter how smooth. PCI Nanolight can be used both inside and outdoors, and it can also be used for wall and floor levelling and fixing in layers from 1 - 15 mm. Available in a 15kg sack, PCI Nanolight’s lightweight technology means that it yields 30-40% more coverage than a standard 20kg sack of adhesive.   Other products in the range are PCI Nanolight Rapid for fast-track applications and PCI Nanolight White for glass mosaic, natural stone etc.
